On day 2, we returned to Carlsbad Caverns and entered the cave through the main entrance.

Then we drove to Slaughter Canyon and visited the Slaughter Canyon Cave (sometimes referred to New Cave). Visitors need a reservation and must be escorted by two rangers. All visitors need flashlights and water.

After leaving Carlsbad, we drove back to El Paso and headed north, spending the night at Las Cruces.
