On day 5, we took an invigorating hike up the hills to visit the grave yard in the "ghost town" of Mogollon.

Then we headed for our longest drive of the trip, onto Who Low of the White Mountains of Arizona.

Visiting Show Low was just for convenience. We needed a stop over between Mogollon and the Petrified Forest / Painted Desert. Although we did get in a nice hike around Show Low, the town offered none of the quaintness or even pseudo quaintness of Silver City. Show Low seems to be one continuous strip mall.

All was not lost, though. We found a great Tex-Mex restaurant. And that night, the city had a free concert where a pretty darn good local band played the blues.
