Each course at ABI is taught over a 10 week semester, covering one learning module per week. Each module consists of the following components:
1) Course readings: Sections of the accompanying text are assigned for review.
2) Online reviews & directed inquiry: Each reading has a corresponding review on the course website. These reviews summarize important concepts from the text, provide additional examples, and guidance for those interested in additional study or resources on the subject. More importantly, imbedded in each review are practice questions to assess your understanding along with a directed inquiry. Directed inquiries will help you to probe your comprehension of the material. This interactive component will guide you down different paths, based on your individual answers, to identify any sticking points, confusion, or challenges you may be experiencing with the material. The path you take will be tailored to your personal level of understanding.
3) Student and instructor interaction: Students can interact with their instructors and their classmates through structured forums and live chat where class questions can be explored and discussed. In addition, students can email their professors directly for in-depth explanations or tutoring on challenging subjects.
4) Module quizzes: Each learning module concludes with a quiz that students must pass with at least 70% correct before moving on. Students may take the quiz as many times as they'd like; individualized feedback is provided based on their answers to every question - if you are wrong, you receive suggestions for reviewing the material to correct any misconceptions.
